Tips for Keeping Germs Out of Your Dance Bag

We’re well into fall, which is a fun and cozy time of year—but also the time of year when dancers are more susceptible to catching the flu or a cold. This is an important time to be aware of the little things you can do to prevent germs and hopefully avoid illness.

Your trusty dance bag can be a germ playground at this time of year, especially if you don’t clean it out often enough! For busy dancers, bags end up being a catch-all and a carry-all for everything from dance clothes and shoes to snacks, warm-ups, homework and more!

Join Us for a Dance Unlimited Trunk-or-Treat!

We are planning a Trunk-or-Treat for our recreational classes, and we hope you’ll join us! Friday, October 28, from 6-7:30 p.m., dress up in your Halloween finest and gather in the Dance Unlimited parking lot. 

Our competition teams and our faculty will all be decorating their trunks and handing out spooky treats—all hoping to be your favorite! Come and mingle with your classmates and our entire dance family as we celebrate Halloween!

Our New Teachers … Take Two

Did we mention that we think we have the best teachers around? Well, we do! Here’s a little detail about two more of our new teachers this year. 

Aria Faddis teaches ballet for us. She is a Boise native who graduated from the University of Montana with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in dance with an emphasis in teaching. She started dancing when she was 13, and has had the opportunity to work with choreographers from all over the U.S. Aria has experience in multiple styles of ance including ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, and musical theatre.

A Spotlight on Two of Our New Teachers

Here at DU, we take an immense amount of pride in the quality of our teachers! We

are so excited to have added several amazing professionals to our staff this year, and

we want to highlight them! Here is an intro to two of them:

Barbara Wescott is our Ballet Director. She began taking ballet in Boise after seeing

the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo when she was 8 years old.  She eventually trained at

the Ballet Major Program at the University of Utah, where she also received a

The Best Snacks for Dancers

Any time you’re doing physical activity, it’s important to feed your body the right fuel, but especially when it comes to dancing. Dance classes require lots of focus, energy, and strength. Eating a healthy snack before class can help with energy levels, attention spans, muscle soreness, muscle conditioning, preventing cramps, and more.

Here are some snacks that are great fuel for dancing bodies:

•    Peanut butter and banana :: The potassium in a banana helps with muscle soreness, and the peanut butter provides protein for energy. 

10 Things to Know Before Your First Dance Class

Welcome back everyone, and a big welcome to our new dancers! We are so excited

for this new dance season. Our teachers have spent the summer planning classes,

music, choreography and costumes that we hope you’ll love. So as we kick off the

semester, we thought it would be useful to put together a few notes for your first

class—It’s a nice reminder for both new and returning dancers!

Our barre workout classes are a great way to get  your body strong and long!  A low impact workout to a fun mix of music is a great way to challenge your strength.  Our barre & yoga certified instructor is also a trained dancer so she brings a wide range of knowledge and movement to class!

Congrats to all the dancers who are part of our competition teams!  We are so excited for this upcoming season and we are thrilled at the talented group of dancers that we will be able to work with!

*All competition team dancers are required to take at least 6 ballet and 6 jazz technique classes throughout the summer.

*Do not wait to register!  Classes fill quickly and you want to ensure that you have a spot in the classes you need/want to take.
